Does anyone have these? I just got mine today and was muckin around with it and i don't know what i did and measures temps incorrectly now. it came up with (Lo) and it measures my body temp as 45degrees. Is there a reset button on these?

Maybe replace the battery?
Mine stopped firing the laser pointer but all was good after a battery replacement.

The battery is brand new from a new pack? Or is it the one that came with the thermometer? It may have been sitting in the warehouse for a while, so sometimes with electronic goods even if it's brand new, the battery might have been manufactured a while ago. Especially if it's one of those cheapo-crappo batteries you usually get when it's supplied with the appliance.

I guess if a battery change doesn't work & you still can't get it going, at least it's under warranty (you kept your receipt right?) so you should be able to replace it.

Well yeah it's the one that comes with it. But i think i might've done something to the thermo that made it like this. lol theres like a min max lock and esm. i dont even know what i did. lol

If all else fails I've found swearing at it & shaking my fist in frustration is a good last resort.
Violent threats of pegging it against a wall might also get it to see sense & start working properly.
Forgive the obvious question, but I gotta ask......instruction manual?

lol theres no instruction manual. but i figured it out. had something to do with the ems, i mucked around with that too much. haha.

:lol:well done. Maybe you should read the instructions before you start pressing buttons :p

Check that the little switch that changes it from Celcius to Farenheit isn't stuck between the two which could confuse things.

if in doubt!!!

just remember the rule if in doubt give it a clout an the bigger the doubt the bigger the clout lol good luck mate

There is a bit of "If all else fails read the instructions" about this thread.

I have been using one of these thermometers for years and never had a problem with it though I have had to change the battery once in that time.

They are particularly useful for quickly determining temperature gradients in enclosures... particularly for goannas with particularly hot hot spots. Other types of thermometers just do not cut it in these circumstances.

If products such as these were generally faulty "out of the box" the suppliers, in this instance the Herp Shop, would go broke very quickly. Poor quality products are the death of businesses that do the bulk of their trade via mail order.

If you think you have a problem item (from the Herp Shop or anywhere else for that matter):

  1. Read the instructions to make sure you are operating it correctly.
  2. If that fails contact the supplier and ask them. (email and the phone work particularly well here.)
  3. (You should not get this far.) Seek solutions from wider sources such as your mates, Google, APS etc.
So, Snakelover, give Brian at the Herp Shop a call if you think there is an issue or you need some help getting it to operate correctly. You will find him very helpful and that he stands by the products he sells and in the rare instances where there are genuine defects the situation is quickly corrected.

Thanks for that, I already sent Brian an email and he replied in a matter of hours so yeah it was great and it's all solved now. I played around with it a little bit too much and didn't know how to get it back. but I do now. =)
