Venomous, thats my pet hate, people spelling it venemous

lol

Alas spelling has never been my strong point. It is doubly bad when done in the subject line.

I have often thought that APS should have a spell checker option ;-)

Perhaps we should request that the APS language sanitiser have some venom added to it and auto modifiy venem to venom.

some one asked me if my snake was venomous when i showed them some bite marks on my hand and i just looked at them... and they quickly relise that if it was venomous i would probalby be dead already.

Thats not nessicarily true... not that many people die from being bitten by Venomous snake, and if i was i would still be keen to show people the marks...

I recon thats probably a fair question...

Not havin a go or anithing Andrew, just sayin what i recon..

Cheers, Reed.

Lol, That dosent bother me, I know damn well they mean venomous! :D

My pet peeve is used matches back in the box! ARRRRGGGHHH!!!!

dw i know your not having a go at me, however i did show em the majority of my bites which would be several teeth marks. i don't know if you could survive 5+ bites from a venomous snake! well you probably could with alot of antivenom.

Empty milk carton back in the fridge!!!

But sometimes i get in a huff and puff when it happens, and realise "shivers, i live by myself" LMAO

i always get asked if my snakes have fangs and do i have punchure marks when bitten etc

i find it annoying at times and the same questions are asked which is ok but it does get repetitive and is funny when those who ask you, aren't those venomous and don't they have fangs but like many have said, misinformed and uneducated

just wondering is there a technical term for a komodo dragon bite?
ie - saliva kills by bacterial infection

The term I use is 'toxic'. You could probably use 'septic' too.

Something in recent years that has really peeved me is people telling me that Komodo Dragons are venomous, or have a venomous saliva. And it's usually people who should know better. Komodo's are neither venomous nor poisonous. Nor is their saliva poisonous. The bacteria in the mouth might live in the saliva making it toxic, but if a Komodo bites you it's hard to say if it's the bacteria in the saliva or the bacteria on and between the teeth that is doing most of the damage.

I have a mate who's brother was the victim of an attempted mugging by a bum in melbourne. The bum tried to grab my mates brothers wallet, and in the attempt, the bum bit the guy on the pinkie finger going into the bone. He ended up with gangrene and had to have the finger amputated. Would you say the bum is "toxic" or "septic"???? lol

Bad oral hygiene, more likely.

If we don't clean our teeth properly then food that is stuck between the teeth will rot. The rotting is actually bacteria breaking down the food. And rotten meat is especially bad. The rotten food is toxic and because of the foodbase, the bacteria multiply rapidly. When the bum bit your friend, this is what got into the bite and caused the problem.

Same thing happens with carnivorous animals. In fact some animals (like the big cats) have the rotting meat/toxin and bacteria under their claws, and one scratch can turn very nasty.

Nobody is expressing hate for Slatey. We love him because he can be blamed for our poor spelling   ;-)

he will say its actually "antivenine"....LOL

I used to think that too Sherm but read on Brian Fry's website that that is just the french version of antivenom. So in Aust. we really should just call it antivenom.

I kow you were only joking but something I only recently discovered so thought I'd share. :)
