I am trying to work out what the best option is for housing sick pythons, and the easiest for keeping them warmed properly. I have only offered 3 choices in the poll. If you vote other, could you please offer your advice on what you think is best.
Thank you :D

I think a plastic tub and heat mat or cord, for hygienic purposes. However, I believe giving the snake a choice between a heat gradient, rather then not allowing for any cool end. Over heating causes stress which can make the snake worse.

HUH?..... you can also put the tub on 1/3 of the mat / cord....that should allow for a small gradient

Yes, I have kept quite a few snakes successfully in tub set ups. If you have a look at some old threads similar to this, you'll see that some people have a habit of suggesting that the snake be heated completely and to give them no cool end (it was my assumption that this was common knowledge or practice). While I see the credit to this (increased metabolism), I believe that over heating (and it is over heating because they cannot cool down) causes a great deal of stress which in turn, inhibits recovery.

I like the tubs and thats what I generally use. I can keep a greater control on the temps and humidity and restrict movement if needs be.
I use shallow tubs and have heat cord running under the bottom at the back only. This allows for a temp gradient. The thermostat probe is place directly on the heated area.
They are also easier to maintain hygiene and the snake will become far less stressed by being hidden. I have had far greater success in the initial stages of recuperation using tubs than other housing.
Unless te snake is aboreal a shallow tubs seems to be better. Even so. I currently have a jungle recuperating in a shallow tub. I have place a pvc pipe that it perches on and it seems to be doing fine.
NB. I have found that the elapids in care aren't overly keen on the shallow tubs
