I don't keep olives but I've been told 6x2x2 is the min size? Also been told they can be kept in 4x2x2 but I think thats to small.

yer well im not one of those people that go by minimums i hate it when people house them in minimal conditions i mean if i have the room to build one big enough to house it 2 or three times over i think i will

hozy6,

that is a room and Dave quoted you in feet, not metres (I'm guessing) (so 1.8x 0.6x 0.6 or 1.2x 0.6x 0.6)

you will find the are you want expensive to heat and also hard to heat and have a good heat gradient, personally I wouldn't have as much hight or width but the length would be great, if you could heat it properly.

ive allways thought the enclosure should be at least half the lengh of the snake. then height and width of the enclosure should be half of its lengh. you can build your enclosure as big as you like, but the bigger it is the more heating you will need. i have an enclosure thats 1200 by 1200 by 600, it has 300watts of heating. just think of how much heating you will need to heat your enclosure on the coldest winter night that you will get before you start building

I keep my girl in a 6x2x3 and have had no problems, she is just over 3m and still growing, if you go to large i think it will be really hard to keep control of your temps, but giving your demensions it would be a pretty darn sweat enclosure, maybe for a pair or trio?

G'day, I reckon you can never go too large, so long as the enclosure is secure. Perhaps to keep heating costs down you could provide a semi-enclosed heat corner within the enclosure.

Here are a couple of pics of the olive python enclosure at Dreamworld. The first one is actually the scruby enclosure but the other two are the olive enclosure. Sorry about the crap quality - phone pics. You often find the olive curled up under his heat lamp on the branches.
