Hi azza! We have our feeding down pat!
We also order fly pupae from the ARC. I put the some of the pupae in a small icecream container with some home made gut load just for flies. The rest of the pupae I put in the frigde to slow hatching time. As the others finish hatching I then add some more. This way the pupae lasts longer. As they hatch I put the container in the fridge for about 1 minute or so till they slow down (may look like they are dead!). I then put the container in with the frogs with the lid off and leave it in there overnight. Our guys just love hunting them and wont take anything directly form us useing tongs. I think thats more natural anyway!
As for the crickets which I also get from ARC...I put them in a big container with some more egg carton, gutload them up with broccoli, apple and carrot. When its feeding time I shake some off the egg carton into another container and then I shake them into the corner of the container and pour them into a cricket feeder rock that I brought from a pet shop. I put this in with the frogs and they just sit infront of the hole waiting for the crickets to come crawling out!! At first I thought the feeding rock was just a gimmic but it really is great. It makes it easier to add the vitamins and calcium powder as you just put a pinch in the feeder rock before you pour the crickets in.
SO..... I dont use tongs anymore and I find all this takes half the time and I dont squash any!
Gee that was long! I hope that makes sense!
