i got some real good drift wood, looks just like the ones in the pet store and i was wondering how long i would have to put it in the freezer for to kill anything that may be on them, any help at all would be great thanks :)

always spray my branches and logs with T.O.D. before i put it in an enclosure

freezing wont do much, boil or lemon/bleach wash..

I tip boiling water over them a few times give them a scrub then give them a couple of days to dry out and once they are dry into the enclosure

What about just rinsing if off (with hot water if you like) then putting it in the enclosure?

I really don't understand what the preoccupation with torturing bits of wood is all about.

LOL love the torturing of wood

I use the boiling water, but only to kill borers and any wood pests that could attack the wood of my enclosure or indoor furniture. Then I sun dry.

Hi Travie

I also posted a thread like this, there are some good ideas there too. I soaked my wood in bleach and will then put it in the oven for an hour or so. I think i may get another piece and soak in boiling water, i think i used too much bleach!

I don't like bleach, it's a pretty harsh chemical, boiling water and then sun dry .

Bleach will get into the wood to well and will leave residue. Chemicals and animals don't go so well together IMO.

I T.O.D everything like branches and stuff.

Top Of Decent is a designed bug spray made safe around snakes and most lizards but isn't suitable for geckos and amphibians,

Scorps

cheers guys, i think i have solved the problem, i boiled them, then put them in the oven to dry them off so they dont get mouldy
thanx for the help
