I have only had Ruby for a week now, and last week she ate well. Today however she seems really interested in it, but isn't eating it (it has also moved to over her heat cord so will that be an issue?). So how long should I keep the rat in there for?

Well if the rat hasn't been consumed within the hour, then chances are it wont be consumed at all. However, sometimes a little bit more teasing of the snake with the rat can often elicit a response, especially after the snake has spent an hour with the rats odour.

Otherwise, toss the rat.

make sure it is the right temp........thaw out in hot water and then get some fresh hot water and really heat it up
(do not use boiling water)

I have found with one of my jungles if it isnt warm enough he will strike and coil but wont eat

hope this helps

thanks guys. went out and came back and still hadn't touched it, came back to her half hour later and was half way through eating. :)
