Hi my jungle has an RI. I was wondering how much I'm going to have to spend to get her fixed up. Symptoms are: blowing bubbles, refusal of food, wheezing. (classic symptoms)

I think you should be taking her to the vet, rather then worrying how much you have to spend. The vet can also give you a price and probably put you on a payment plan if you can't afford it right away.

There are other choices you may use for one of 2 reasons
1] Money can be tight at times
2] Not keen on using anti biotics

There is a thread called Alternative Reptile Treatment
There is a very good method described pretty well in there
But it is also a lot more labour intensive than bunging a needle in every three days

I personally don't think any kind of new snake owner should be self-treating their pets for an RI (or any other potentially serious condition). Yes, money can be tight, but thankfully most vets provide payment plans for this very reason.

had the same problem now need to inject him every three days ( not really that hard )

In answer to the original question - a lot more than it costs to prevent RI. Temperature, temperature, temperature. Get that right and you wont have a problem.

Sorry to hear codysnake :(

As mentioned above crank the heat up this can help sick snakes, but in relation to the price just ring around to reptile vets close to you and ask how much the consult fee is as some are much more expensive than others.... As mentioned above the antibiotic isnt expensive, it's the consult for their expertise that stings, payment plan will assist tho.... Keep a check on your temps to avoid getting RI its really important for your snakes health.

Good luck and I hope all goes well with your snake :)

Thanks everyone I'll be taking her to a vet and I've been keeping reps for about 3-4 years now but I guess I'm still fairly new in some aspects. Cheers for all the help,
Cody.

I'm yet to go to one vet that would do this, and I've been to many. Not even the RSPCA offer this. Its either pay now or we can't help.

I bought 2 snakes earlier this year that had RI, not happy. But about $75.00 at the vets for consultation and antibiotic injections :)
