Hi I was wondering if I could get some advice on controlling the heating of a rack system using heat cord and a probe thermostat. Where would the best place be to place the probe for the most accurate reading ?

When I built my hatchy rack, I routed channels for the heat cord, and a wider channel at the place I wanted the thermostat probe to go. The probe is alongside and in contact with the heatcord, and I used adhesive aluminium tape (from Jaycar - you can order it online if you don't have a store near you) to cover the cords on each shelf and spread the heat evenly over a wider area. Don't use the bitumen-backed aluminium tape from Bunnings (used for repairing gutters)...

My heat cords are on timers instead of thermostats. For the hatchie rack, the cord stays on 24/7 except for 11-3pm during the day, when it's particularly hot (I'm in Queensland so it's sweltering up here at the moment).
