I want to lower my temp at night for my new girl (diamond python). But my only problem is having to reach my hand in and turn the thermostat down manually. Are there any other methods to going about my problem?

Any advice appreciated,
Thanks.

Since you have one of those thermostat's that sit in the enclosure that you have to manually dial up or down, not really... However, I don't get why you can't you put your hand in and turn it down??

Another option is to get a different thermostat which sits outside the enclosure.

how olds the snake ?
u could just turn the heat off at the switch [ saves readjusting the thermostat every night]

Open a window in your room.

Put it on a timer and cut the power over night.

Im not scared to manually do it, but being a newbie I expect that im going to scare her by doing so. She is about 7-8months old. Inside a click clack which is inside a 3ft W x 2ft H x 2ft D.

Is it safe to cut the power to the heat source during the night?

i would say so. she's a diamond and they aren't too keen on heat anyways. i mean she is inside your house (i assume) so its not like it is going to drop dramtically. maybe the nights after she feeds leave it as is to stop gut rot. however, im sure some one will come in and tell me if i am incorrect....

The snake won't need heating at night, especially at this time of the year. Being a Diamond it won't like constant warmth anyway. You won't scare a captive bred animal.

Just put the whole thing on a timer, 12 on, 12 off, and don't handle when the power is off.

Diamonds are a predominately Sydney type weather snake so think "Sydney temps". They do go up the coast from Sydney and down the coast to the Vic border. With mine I had them set up to bring on a basking lamp at dawn and had a simple cheap timer set to a couple of hours after dark (so I could see them after dark). You don't need to heat the whole enclosure, just a basking spot. So just give it a spot to bask during the day and use a timer to cut the power after dark. This will be normal to your Diamond.

........Inside a click clack which is inside a 3ft W x 2ft H x 2ft D.......
Do you have a hot end and a cool end within the actual Click Clack? Normally if you put a Click Clack inside a larger enclosure (where the heat source is) there is no temp gradient inside the Click Clack (it will all be the one temp in there) and your snake won't be able to choose the correct temp it requires.
