DO - use something which will be waterproof when dry and allow plenty of time to dry and air out.
Also seal the joins, especially around the floor. You want to do this because a big wet mess or spilled water may drip down and make a mess of everything below. Ask at your local hardware store for recommendation. If it has been sealed well, clear silicone should be good. I have white melamine enclosures, so use white gap filler or bathroom sealant.

what size snake you putting in there?
I have used, all in one stain and varnish and brown roof and gutter silicone for the corners sort off colour matches the stain ,took nearly a month to air out cause it was oil based .havent tried the water based stuff but would probably be ok but ask at hardware .coated the timber 5 times with a very light sand inbetween coats ,dont apply next coat untill previous coat completely dry .Using oil bassed type turps ,cleanup:)
