I agree with shell, taking on animals that you know hardly anything about, jumping in the deep end and learning it all as fast as you can is a big challenge, and you are doing the absolute best you can. 
I'm sure if you read through alot of threads you will soon figure out who is happy to help, just PM a couple of them and ask your questions to get the guidance you need
