Hi all,
This snake appeared around my house a couple of days ago but has proven very hard to get a photo of. It is about a metre long, about 25 mm diameter and has a quite roundish appearance to the body. This morning it was sunning itself on the bare soil of my vegetable patch but had slipped into the shade by the time I got the camera so apologies for the image quality. In the sun it appears a dull charcoal colour.
Can someone point me to the ID please?

Thanks nathand, damn those things are so variable. This one was very shy for an EB, normally they will get a bit agro and head for you round here, rather than run away. Will have to make an effort to encourage it to find some place else to bask before I step on it. That's the mat on my front step its running behind.
