That's Wong of you to make comments like that.

I let my juvie coastals out with the dog - a miniature pincer. They don't mind him but I have to watch him like a hawk cos he always wants to play with em & he might break them. I reckon if your dog is small enough an adult python might eat him.

Yep im with Steatocranus casureus, if you value your snakes, and dog for that matter, you will not let them "play" anymore. I smell trouble.

I've seen a miniature pincer. They are only little too. And slight like a whippet. My dog is similar but lower to the ground. He hasn't got a tail so a python might think he's a hampster.

How long do you reckon I'd have to remove the dog alive if it got swallowed? I'd have to allow for the family debate. The python or the dog? The dog or the python? Could take time.

A small silky could come out looking a bit like a long-haired dashy! Could be a financial benefit? Forget about it! Let em play together! - you should seriously forget the GTS & get a Scrubbie!

What's a scrubbie?

Scrub python, Amythestine python, something that you would be advised to avoid as a first snake.
Peter

And also lionheads Greg.
I have 5 of them and they are the coolest little cichlids you can get i reckon.

Greg........can you PLEEEASE change your avatar man...

Or is that really you?

I think any python makes a good first snake, apart from Scrub pythons as Peterescue mentioned. It is just a matter of researching the snakes needs and being diligent in providing them. Though your dog may do as it's told(when your there anyway) a snake never will, I'd say why risk it?
As for enclosure size personally I think GTS should have just as big,(if not bigger) an enclosure as any large python, they can be an extremely fast and active snake. Just my opinion.
By the way did you know GTS are venemous? lol.
