Hey guys...

So I've found two hard lumps near Kevins cloaca,..

this is kevin >>>>>IMG_3725.jpg

Some details, I was feeding him every 15 days, last feed was on the 3rd February. He defecated around 7 days later and has been looking for his next meal since. I decided that he because he has been growing really fast that I would cut his feeds back to every 3 weeks instead, so still have another week to go before I feed him again.

He eats regularly and defecates a week later without fail, unless coming to a shed.

Temps are, warm end 31.5 and cool end 28. he grew too big for his warm end cave recently and i took it out and have been fiddling with the temps to get his new cave temperature right, at its sits lower in the enclosure than the old one. Since rearranging the furniture kevin has been spending a lot of time in his cool end, even after his feed, however still climbed up on to his fav spot on his branch each night to soak up some warmth.

Substrate is wood shavings which i have been using for months, and kevin gets fed in a tub on paper towel.

So what do i do now? do i wait and see if it goes away? if he poos it out? give him a massage? vet? we dont have a reptile vet where i live unfortunately. the lumps are about the size of marbles

thanks for any advice :)

Could possibly be cysts or something, but there is no way to get a good diagnosis over the internet. See if you can find someone with more experience who lives near you to come and have a look, and if they aren't sure then I'd go for a vet visit just to make sure. For that it probably doesn't need to be a reptile specific vet, they'd just need to check the lumps to see if they're tumor/cyst which I'd assume would be the same between most animals. If anything further needs to be done then I'd look for a reptile vet.

I agree, if it was my snake I would organise to travel to a good herp vet.

How old is the snake ? Just because it is growing really fast doesnt mean to say you should reduce feeding...just like human children who have growth spurts and want to eat to grow accordingly so do snakes. So long as yourent power feeding you can feed according to the snakes hunger....if you dont and your snake gets really hungry you could end up with a very cranky snake who decides to bite you just to let you know it is hungry !!

Fantazmic he is about 3 and a half. I bought him when he was 2yr old and he was only being fed monthly and was quite small. I fed him fortnightly and he has just grown so fast. the is the first fortnight i decided to hold out til 3 weeks, and to see how he handled it. I was also worried as I have read how bad rats can be for them and thought maybe 3-weekly would be better for him in the long run?

Cement, am I to take it that that statement means I am overreacting? Because feel free to tell me straight out, I need to learn these things and I will feel much better if someone was to explain and tell me I'm worrying too much

Point taken,

I did feel reassured with Jamie's post and was going to leave it and see how it went. It is hard though when I'm worried and get given many opinions on what to do.

Thanks for all your responses everyone.
