im having a mini panic attack at the moment,

my big diamond girl is holding her mouth in an unusual way, partly open on one side.
her toung flick is still normal, but i dont like the way she is holding her mouth, she is in the opaque stage of sheding her skin atm so i dont want to harass her too much,

her cage is keep clean and she is beeing cooled for winter. as i was hopeing to breed her this season,

am i over reacting or is it that she is showing early signs of canker?.

maybe trying to start the shed.. pushed her jaw out from rubbing.. should go back..

because she is in that milky state ..is it possible that she may have flung out and hit her enclosure and put her jaw out? ...dont always think infection ...look in her mouth if you think otherwise and of course seek vet help if worried ...

ok, the inside of her mouth is still normal color, and im not seeing any exceive fluid or any thing at this stage, she has been rubbing a fair bit thou, i will keep a close eye on it, and wait till she sloughs her skin, then if shes still holding it the way she is, or if she develops any other signs ill run her down to the vets. im just a bit panicie as at the start of the year i have a probblem with the male developing an R.I, i havent had an issue with him since but im concerned when one of my animals exhibits unusual behariour now.

The beginning of mouth canker is usually undetectable, their jaws start to appear apart when the canker is advanced, causing swelling of the gums and build up of gunk, which is usually visible at that stage.

ok thaks for the info, maybe im just panicy and over reacted,
i see no swelling, gunk or fluids she is just holding the lower jaw in an unusual way, but its hard to say what /if there is a problem, as she is in the middle of a sloughing scycle. but again i will be keep a very close eye on her.

my python used to puff her throat sometimes while exhaling during shedding as she would find it harder to breathe due to her nose holes becoming blocked, maybe her nose is partially blocked due to being about to shed and has to breath through her mouth?

no it looks more like its no alighned propperly, like when after they eat, and it sits out funny sometimes untill they yawan, only i havent feed her since may, april/may due to beeinf cooled for winter.

Can you post a close-up pic of her head, showing us what you're talking about?

sorry every one falce alarm, i cheched her again thismorning, she is back to normal, she is ROYALY PEEVED at me but, better safe than sorry right?

Right! My Olive did that to me a while ago just before a shed, it was moving around really weird, with one side of it's jaw dropped.. Then 1 hour later, bang he had shed. Good to hear your animal is ok.

she hasent sloughed yet, but shouldent be too far off, shes cleared up (not milky looking any more)

i guess i just paniced cause she has never done that before

Sometimes before a shed the diamonds can also exhibit a red/pinky colour to their ventrals which can freak you out about scale rot, but it all clears up afterwards.

i know ming ofthen exhibit the "blushing" thing, before a slough or even buring feeding. she is showing it now, it was just that was the first time any of them have done that jaw thing. since it was the first time she's done it i was scared what something might be wrong. but shes stoped now, so ive relaxed a bit. but still payes to keep an eye out as its so esay to over look things sometimes.

ha ha i feel silly now, but releaved at the same time.

you did the right thing
its when people take the 'odds' that everything is fine...and then they lose their animal....and the thing is they are such secretive animals you often dont know anything is wrong until they are really sick.

You will find if you are vigilant like you are you wont have any problems.
