Doing the usual inspection before work this morning and noticed my big male BHP had messed so cleaned out his enclosure and changed his water. Put him back in and went out for 5 min and came back to find him wrapped around his water bowl..
Temps this morning hit the lowest in my room this year of just under 21 degrees but since i had put water in the porecellan bowl and cleaned it it had gone to about 17 degrees.
Is interesting if he is cooling himself for this year as he only gets 31 degrees now for the day time as i have been winding back the time and temps for this coming breeding season.
I would have thought he would have been chasing the heat as it had only been on for a half hour leading up to this time and when i took him out he was on his hot spot..
Anyone else noticed this.....
Or am i, as my wife reckons, paying to much attention to my snakes

smeejason my hubby accusses me of the same thing.but he plays bloody WOW half the night.it all balances out in the long run.as for advice im still learning everyday myself.just wanted you to know it's not always wifey.

I check on my snakes first thing every morning too and also before bed....there is no shame......as for the cooling ...I find it a bit interesting too.

Oh i am a bit obssessed with my kids, its not strange to find me up at all odd hrs checking, just checking.making sure everyone is happy.from kid-human right down to the lizards,dogs.....all of them.Since having reptiles i get less sleep, less spending money, and there is always waiting to have a cuddle, pooping = enclosure cleaning, defrosting rats etc = less time for me....And i love it!!!

Cheers

I'm an insomniac so it gets tricky having to feed and check lizards in the daytime, and cat, dogs, birds and fish. Snakes and rats at night is the easy part and if I get bored when everyone's asleep I go see which snakes are doing their thing and watch them or hang out and play with the rats..
