I'm watching Big bite night on national Geographics..its on Crocs..Lol.
Anyway its about their breeding cycle and after the crocs hatch the mother stores them in a lower pouch in her mouth, She then swims down to the river so they can swim out. They said this about 5 seconds after they showed her snapping them up...I was horified because i thought the mouther was eating them! Lol...

Just thought I'd share that with you...

crocs do this to reduce the babies getting picked up by predators and to get the babies to safer waters so to speak....

Bel - crocodile care of the young doesn't last much longer than a couple of days after hatching and then she becomes a real danger to them. I think that the major predator of crocodiles are larger crocodiles. This explains why they were able to bounce back so quickly after the shooting stopped, lack of predators.

You seem really keen with animals, are you planning a career with animals?

Absolutely Fuscus....I want to be a herpetologist...Mainly a toxinologist though... I'd love to work with Crocs one day :D
