Is capital letters YELLING?

The internet is not very old. As it evolved certain protocols were introduced.
The @ for example why not an *, why lol? Why is caps yelling, it just is.
And it annoys me. Mainly because it's considered yelling. How hard is it to
turn off the caps lock.

If it was easier to read caps why aren't books written in caps?

I also hate people using a microscopic font size. C'mon people it's an email you're not wasting ink!

i always just assume that people writing in caps are yelling...cuz thats how i write.. to me is symbolizes anger.
one of my lecturers pointed out that using red pen on a students work demotivates them because they see red as failure or something.. its just the way the latest generations are... TXT talk is the accepted way of slang just as writing in caps is yelling....well that what i reckon anyways

It is generally easier to read a word or a phrase in caps, but for lengthier pieces of text, it does make it harder. Although I am guilty of it myself on occasion:

Actually the notes can be several hundred words all in caps. It is just easier to read is all. The whole point of drafting is to explain and make thinks clear.

My entail thing was people who sook about it. There is no proof it is yelling or shouting other than some sooks saying that is how they read it.

It is yelling. I use it when I need to yell in text and most everyone understands that I'm yelling when I do it. The only time I sook about someone using capitals, is when they constantly type everything in capital letters. It just irritates me. Guess I'm a sook. Meh.

Context is important as well. As it's been said, caps can be used to denote emphasis on a particular word, or phrase etc. IF FOR EXAMPLE, I WROTE IN CAPS FOR AN ENTIRE POST, I WOULD NOT CONSIDER IT YELLING UNLESS THE CONTENT LED ME TO BELIEVE THAT IT WAS MEANT TO DENOTE YELLING. However, if I said "WHO THE HELL DO ALL YOU PEOPLE THINK YOU ARE, using caps all willy nilly like that? It's not right, and to be honest, it's ABSOLUTELY UNFORGIVABLE", then the reader should be able to decipher that emphasis (and perhaps a stronger tone of voice) was meant to be used for the parts written in caps.
At the end of the day, the point is pretty much moot anyway, proper use of the English language is almost dead anyway.

aND IF i WROTE ALL IN CAPITALS LIKE THIS, WITH LITTLE LETTERS AT THE START OF EVERY SENTENCE. wHAT WOULD YOU THINK WAS WRONG?

You guessed it, someone has bumped the caps lock and looks at the keyboard, instead of the monitor while typing and cant be bothered retyping it correctly :lol:
