So my male MD doesn't seem fond of Rats anymore, out of no where. He was switched from Fuzzy Mice to Pinky Rats (I chucked a Pinky Rat in his click clack by mistake one day) and has taken them for the most part until 8/8/12.
Now he had a shed on 20/8/12 (last one was 14/7/12). So I can understand him refusing food of any sort for a couple of feeds. But I thought I would offer him a Pinky Rat (I've tried Velvet Rats before to no avail [too big I think]) last night and he didn't seem interested at all. I normally lay the food item just in front of him or in between his coils, if that makes sense.
He notmally just walks his mouth over his food item. He will sometimes coil it first but not always. He has never stuck and coiled his food before though.
I have not changed the way I feed him. Have not changed his enclosure or conditions at all.
I have another MD and a Jungle that I'm pretty sure are girls, that are on Weaner Mice. They never refuse feeds, even when comnig up to sheds. They are kept in the same conditions. So I don't think husbandry is the issue here. And none of them have mites.
I'm not really worried yet as I know they can go ages without food (although he is still smaller than the other two obviously). The whole thing just seems odd to me that's all.
Has anyone else experienced anything similar to this?
Thanks guys.
