My nine month old murray has been rather quiet this week which leaves me to wonder.Last Sunday (the 19th) he took his mouse with no hesitation and then later disappeared into his hollow log hide, nothing unusual i know then wednesday i noticed his eyes go milky for a day or two indicating him coming into a shed.Again nothing unusual, however he still has a large mid section and seven days later he still hasnt passed anything .Since the weather is relatively warm here in Adelaide at the moment i only have a heat matt on which is on 24/7 and a uv fluro on timer during the day.Since this will only be his second shed since ive had him and i unfortunately missed the first, im wondering if him hiding out all week and being a little grumpy is normal. And yes before the temp question gets asked they are consistant at about 30 degrees at the hot end during the day which drop to about 25ish at night and the cool end is about 25degrees day time and a few degrees less at night time any advice is greatly appreciated cheers Troy

Nothing to worry about, he'll probably relieve himself when he sheds - they often do that. Personally, i'd try and keep the warm end up near 30 degrees during the night whilst they have food in their stomach, but 25 during the night shouldn't cause him any issues.

That sounds logical, especiallly the temp thing. I have heard that snakes can plug themselves up to prolong digestion (esp. when feeds are in short supply).

thanks guys i was kinda thinking everything was ok and that he would probably pass on any waste in the shed skin as ive read this is common but just wanted to double check

bugger i missed it again left for work today and he was sound asleep in his log, came home from work and checked on him to find his shed skin spread around the tank.So thats none from 2.But im getting more and more determined to see him shed one day

Look nice though don't they with their new skin.

I haven't seen either of my MD hatchies shed, sneaky buggers. Must be modest as well as good natured snakes.
