Hello
I recently purchased a jungle pyhon and was just wondering he has been in his water bowl everything submerged accept head for about 10 hrs now he is about a week or more into his shedding process just wanted to know if this was normal.

Thanks

Yeah, as Jack said check whether he is due for a shed (or stuck shed, in which case remove it) & mites (rub him gently with a damp white paper towel to see if you can find any small black specks), but also check his temps as well.

If all this checks out OK he could just be one of those snakes that likes to do this. Although I'm not sure I'd call it "normal", I have heard of instances of this happening before.

Some snakes like to sit in their water bowls , but some might do it because of mites , coming up to a shed or it may be to hot in the cage ...
Check your temps first then check for mites ... the water bowl may have little black dots / mites in it if it does actually have mites , you will also see them crawling around the head of the snake , under the chin. Grab him out and a close look.

If it all checks out ok it is just one of those things. I have a mate who had a Jungle years ago who would spend ages in the water and even sink under the water and blow bubbles. :D Another mates Olive spends ages in the water just because it gets a bit warm out in his shed.
