Please, can anyone give me some idea's,Bones 13 month's old b&y jungle, when i got him he was eating mice & rat's no worrie's every 7 to 10 day's more 10 than7,then started to refuse he would take a mouse maby 14+ day's but has been getting worse now not eating at all. It's been 32 day's now and get'n worried have read some thread's on this and tried all to no luck changed enclosure to smaller, small container brained mouse rubbed all over no luck, all temp's check ok,still no luck :?:?

just leave him be for a month aside from water changes and paper cleans just leave him be he'll eat

one of my childrenii stopped eating a while back before we lost him and yeah after a month of little to no contact went straight back on feeds. as long as they have eaten plenty in the months leading up to a fast your average snake can go ages without a feed. somtimes up to 12months

trick is not to stress yourself or them out by trying to feed them every day, keep up your regular regime as in try a feed once every 7 -10 day.

Yeh, a month is certainly not time for stressing yet. My olive went 3 months without eating once, he is still a pain in the bum to feed. He will smash birds no problem but is a tosser when it comes to rats. For him, I will either scent with chicken feathers If I have to do it for more than one snake, otherwise, I have to aim the rat's snout straight at his gullet. If he strikes and gets most of the head in his mouth and the snout half down his throat, he will eat, if he hits it side on, he drops it.

Long story short, if you are worried, try scenting with chicken or quail, feeding chicken or quail, or alternately you can try my pain in the bum method outlined above!

I have a jungle with exactly the same problem. it has been 2 months now and still not interested in feeding.
He will strike and coil the rats or mice but will eventually let them go and just stare at them in the ambush position.

i just tryed feeding my new jungle this arvo and yeh she just struck the rat and dropped it. ill give her a couple of days before trying again

if they strike and drop it you should try covering up the tank and leaving them, a lot of the time they will eat it on their own...
my jungle carpet does that every time i feed it... it will bite constrict and then leave it for a while before returning to eat...
hoppyone like hooglabah said.. snakes can go for a very long time without eating if they are well fed, so just leave him alone for a while and dont panic and make sure you keep the tank nice and warm... if you are really really worried their are a few things you can do...
the first thing is to try and piss the snake off, i know it sounds dumb but if you can get it to strike most likely it will eat, so try running the rat along its back about 2/3 of the way down its body, and tapping it... but dont bump it on the nose or anything like that... if this doesnt work then just leave it in peace because clearly it doesnt want to eat... but eventually it will...
if it hasnt excepted food for another few months, you can try force feeding (but i wouldnt recommend it)
hope this helps
and i hope your snake starts eating soon

I have a few jungles, 1 will eat every meal time, the other will eat a a few meals then not eat for 4-5 weeks, i used to stress but have decided she will eat when she is hungry enough....sounds like its common with jungles...

About the striking and dropping... my MD did that the first 2 times i offered her rats. Thankfully she has accepted the fact that she will be eating rats from now on.

when you say u tried a smaller container to feed him in, did you just leave the mouse in with him and cover the container with a towel and leave him for 20mins or so? If not do that. And make sure that container wreaks of mouse scent :)

Raycarpetpython, yes tried that brained mouse rubbed container still nothing after1hr Frustration, thanks i hope he doe's too and thank's to all other's on this thread!
