I dont think you can unless you have a demonstrators licence and if you do you can only keep it till it is 1.5m. Correct me if im wrong.

l would agree, but [l think] its 1.2m. unless its changed recently....solar 17 [Baden]

Demonstrators or Exhibitors. I'm not sure how you go about getting either one. And I believe it's max 1.2m on a demonstrators licence.

I don't think so, I can imagine you would require a restricted license and at least a few referees of your experience with venomous snakes, larges boidae snakes and crocodiles to get one. Or just move to Victoria =)

Haha, sorry i just thought it was 1.5, i barley know the NSW licence let alone the QLD :)

you have to apply for a demo. license and it requires testing and a wide knowledge of all reptiles. These are extremely had to get these days and are really only obtainable for those who just about everything to do with every reptile in australia. I also have to holding a restricted license to apply for one.

As Baden said you can only keep crocs up to 1.2m here in qld

Cheers Nick

quick question,
what are you supposed to do when it gets over 1.2, would be hard to move something like that i would've thought

As far as i know you need a demonstrators licence but you also need special approval by biosecurity for crocs. As far as the demonstrators goes it does not appear too hard, I was in the later stages and had not come across anything too hard. Cancelled it because the yearly fees and public liability made it unsuitable for what i wanted it for..

What A ridiculous law. These monsters live in QLD naturally and have done for millions of years. And we can't keep one. Why in VIC where it is freezing *** cold and they can pay A yearly fee. QLD keepers need to start A petition and do something about this ridiculous ruling. I myself would be happy to spend the money annually plus start up costs to keep one of these animals. As long as they done A course or you had to some experience safety wise then I don't see A problem, I know it's A rant as QLD will probably never change their ruling.

A ridiculous law, in Queensland, surely not ? :)
I have this dream that one day all the States and Territories join together into one big nation.........that nation will be called Austria, actually no that one has been taken already. Leave it with me.

I live in Qld & would love a croc but there is a fairly legit reason why weren't not able to keep them.
Down south if your pet croc gets loose it'll be dead come winter, where as in Qld there is a chance they'll survive & possibly become established outside there range.

Ahh yes I didn't even think of that.
It gets fairly cold midway up the east side in winter but still I have read of crocs surviving in frozen lakes :S

I am in qld and keep them. I have a demo permit. You need to show that you actually conduct demonstrations, that you have prior exp with the species you wish to use and provide other documentation including references, show plans etc. Once this is all approved then you can apply to keep a species (any species) and justify why you wish to keep that species and the amount of them you wish to have.

Some species such as crocodiles require additional justification and have their own additional restrictions on top of your other requirements.

Cheers
Scott
