Terrible news. It makes me sick in my stomach to hear these stories  . Good Luck Hix. And If you are ever travelling through Albury mate and want a really cheap hatchie or two, i would be glad to help you out with a half priced pair. - not trying to pitch a sale, just trying to help ya in probably the only way i can :) (this offer only applies to the Hixter) 8)

hix, may i suggest getting copies of what pics you have of your carpet out to ALL the Herp societies in NSW and poss the country if anyone else from the other states are willing to help. this may increase your chances of tracking down your animals or even better them and the mungrel/s that flogged them. even send a copy to NPWS so they can keep an eye out when they conduct their "spot checks". and they do, has been alot of activety lately in that department. anyway good luck, let us know if we can be of any further help.

I like the idea of having a website or at least a sticky thread on this site dedicated to prevention of herp theft, with photoes and as much information as possible of any stolen animals. If it is there permanently for all to see, there's a chance that the animals can be identified, even several years after the theft, then reunited with their true owners and the pathetic excuses for people who waste our oxygen may also be identified and either handed over to the authorities, or perhaps better still, to those who would take the law into their own hands. The theft of animals is something I could never imagine a severe enough punishment for.

I would be more than happy to financially support a non profit website solely dedicated to stolen herp info, focussed mainly on tracking down stolen animals and identifying theives, and I imagine I wouldn't be the only one willing to do so. I'm also guessing it wouldn't be a particularly high maintenance or expensive venture.

Why anyone would steal animals I just can't understand, but then again, I suppose I'll never understand the desperate need for a hit of heroin or the twisted state of mind that could lead to someone ripping off a friend. I hope that I also never have to experience the sort of rage that would lead to an uncontrolable desire to get some serious revenge.

Stealing a car, telly or other replacable object is one thing, but animals are something completely different. I don't care if it's $100,000 worth of Chondroes or an eight year old's beloved blue tongue lizard, there is no punishment severe enough.

When we hear stories like this we keep eye out on the Herp Trader.

I don't many would be dumb enough to try and sell them through the Herp Trader but anything that looks or sounds fishy we look into before and after the ads get posted. We have records of every add we have ever put up.

If you wish to send us some pics we will watch for anything similar that comes past us.

We have invested in alarms, extra door locks etc. and are fortunate enough to have neighbours who will respond if anything seems amiss.

Im pretty sure you would have Hix, but did you check that the barstads didnt just open the cages on their way out to let the snakes escape to inconvenience you?

How did you come to the conclusion that they were actually pinched?? Im curious is all.

Cheers, Alan.

Daavid, could you bung a wanted ad on the herptrader for him? might get a response? could be worth a try?

i.e. wanted pair of coastals in syd, good price paid etc etc

I'll bung one up on a site i use too. See if i get any hits.

I have a heap of spare space on an old webhost I don't really use much anymore. Costs me a pittance a year. We could set up a domain name and redirect to it.

So that's hosting taken care of.

You could make it so its for pure breed dogs/cats/birds ect, that way the reptile side of it is given more coverage. And anyone who has a pet stolen, does feel for other victims of this henious crime no matter what has been stolen.

www.stolenpets.com.au woud be a good name i reckon!!!

Bit of advertising here and there and it would become quit a resourceful and helpful site.

Herptrader #1 made that offer directly to him earlier today (and for free of course.)
