Hey

just wondering how big do knob tails ( Nephrurus Levis Pilbariensis) have to be to be able to breed.
i know they can start to breed as early as 6 months, but i would like to know how big the females have to be before they can start to carry there eggs.

cheers

60% of adult size. Having said that I let mine grow to full adult size (usually 10 -12 months unless they are being power fed) before pairing for breeding as it slows growth and can prohibit the animal reaching full adult size. Each to their own.

yeah i wait until there atleast a year old before pairing because by then they should be fully grown.

I didn't even allow mine to see a male before she was 2 years old. Just because they can breed at 7 months doesn't mean you have to. Let her reach her optimal weight and condition. Excessively breeding her at such a young age can apparently shorten her breeding span and her lifespan aswell.

Take it easy on her.

Ive had a well fed occi lay within 8 months without seeing a male. Weight would have been just under 20grams.
