Wow, my partner and I just found a fairly sizeable python in our house and we need some advice.

We have a dog and are concerned that he might loose a fight if he gets into a fight with it.
We have never found a snake anywhere near our house and he seemed placid enough as I pushed him out of the house gently with a broom, but we dont know if he is a danger to our dog.
He was about 2m long and I think a coastal.

Any help? My partner is about to pee herself.... I think we just need someone to tell us the dog will be ok if it comes to blows.

We had some bushfires in our area yesterday, is it likely he came from there?

I would be careful if it were a small dog. Most likely there won't be an issue but if you are worried then contact your local snake catcher to relocate it.

it will b fine, dont let them near each other, you dont want to find out what would happen anyway... the snake will go back to the bush when ready...or get a box and try and get it to go in there then take it outside, only if u are sure its a carpet/ coastal.. dont risk it if not sure..

Its a cattle dog, nearly full grown and the snake is about 2 and a bit metres, I would really hate to see some kind of death match, but if it came to that, I wouldnt want my dog to come off second best.

How many more in the house is the question? hahaha

where abouts are you located? maybe you can find a snake relocator to help if you are unsure what it is. though if it is that big chances are a python.

G'day Paul,

Our charges are generally less than $100 if we don't have to travel a long way or spend too much time on the call.

Where are you based?

All sorted, I have moved him on and he is outside and climbed a tree into the neighbours yard. Its a pretty bushy area and I may not see him again.
He was really such a placid guy too! Didnt show any aggression the whole time, just a little frightened I think. Poor little guy.

Thanks for the help guys.

Pauly where abouts are you ? this will help others in letting you know about snake catchers in your area...Jonno is based in the Brissy area ,I am based in the Gympie region and there are others on here that might be able to help you out, if only we knew where you were ..so if next time you have a snake in your house either python or ven, you can act quickly without panic, as you will be able to access the number and not wait for a reply on here ..
