This is something that has always crossed my mind when buying reptiles. Does anyone know how to make sure that the person your buying your reptile from is not a fraud. If they give you their reptile license number is their away to make sure that number is genuine, and not a fake?

i allways make sure i see there license and not just a number writtern down on a peice of paper .

Good question.
I read in another thread, someone question why a person would want or need a copy of another person's licence.
Seems to me, this would be a good reason?

I was ripped off a while ago, by someone providing a fake license number,

short of the story is, he gave me all his details i submitted my import permit, transferred the money and 3 days later the permit come back with not valid number or person ....

When dealing with interstate people my advice would be to do your import / export papers and clarify the details are correct before transferring any funds....

I have been sold animals on a fake AKL before, it really sucks.
NPWS have advised me to ring up and run all AKL's with them before I do business with the seller, due to privacy laws they cannot tell you many details but if you tell them the species advertised they can advise you whether or not its a good idea to deal with the person, and whether or not the name matches the license number.

Thanks Gex

i just bought a pair of levis recently from an expo, the dealer just gave me a piece of paper with his details. Is it possible that the license number is fake? Or do i need not worry because they've been checked because they're in the expo or something?
