AH, there's a good question mate i asked the female bhp exactly the same thing.

She went through all the motions ,cooled, mated to copious times but with just the 1 male, looked like she ovulated to me,then she got fatter and looked chokkas with eggs.Quite a few said it was clear to see in a pic a very experienced breeder took a look at her about a week after what i assumed to be her prelay who was certain she was also gravid. She used her nest box, refused the last offered feed before prelay, right at the last day which would have made it 35-36 days allowing a couple either side  after assumed prelay ,she was coiling tightly, looked like contarctions and the starti was sitting there waiting for eggs to come popping out...but no eggs :?

I thought no way impossible she can't reabsorb eggs"i'm thinking did i miss something or did she eat th eggs or what?????I know they can reabsorb folicles but it way way too late for that.

My findings so far, apparently pythons can still ovulate without laying eggs after even if they've been mated to and have false pregnancies...also apparently rare to have just one male bhp to do the job but there are many people i know who have had eggs etc when just one male was used so"NEVER" will i be counting my eggs before they've even been layed let alone hatched, hope i do better next season and i am investing in another male for sure.

Anyone else have the same experience with any of their snakes?

re Long

Oh well browns youve got a few batches of good jungles and thats very pleasant stuff hey yung dude :D The gex is a big one hey instar, the monitor eggs expand during incubation, never had gecko eggs so i dont know if they expand inny. cheers.

Have updated re this gecko in "Fat or gravid gecko update". Woot! Eggs! :)

that sucks about your BHP's but congrats on your jungles.

Reptiles are frustrating at times. Just part of their charm.

Good luck with the incubation.

Yeah Andrew, it happens with a few snakes every year, usually its my water python, but this year it was my olive. Its happened with my blackheads b4.Once the eggs are shelled they cant be re-absorbed so in these cases the eggs mustnt of been shelled.Brown trees are another that have done this to me, you can count the eggs, but they never deliver the goods.
