poor doggy! :( cruelty to animals is just plain WRONG in my books...IMO whether a person takes his anger out on ppl or animals, all forms of violence towards any species is wrong....anger management should come into play when dealing with animals as well as situations involving ppl....all species deserve respect and protection from violence...and even if the dog was to have angered the owner in some way, dogs are animals and animals cant always distinguish their actions from right and wrong...the owner should realise this with animals and shouldnt of gone off the edge like that with his pet..... i HATE ppl who abuse animals!!! hehe, betya never noticed that huh lol

Was this directed to me? i don't consider myself to be an animal abuser or anything close to it actually. i love animals. i m trying to become a VET atm, actually. up untill this last week i pretymuch never ever lost my temper. i take offence to being called an animal abuser if thats what u were implying.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Man bites dog

The first one should be biting a dog and the second should be beating one. I have never had any problems training my dogs, and they are a reflection of you. If you don't train them they don't learn, and you don't need to bite and beat them to train them.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Man bites dog

Its not all pats n tailwags craig! what kind of place did you want to work at?

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Man bites dog

you and me both, but beleive me you WILL care about having to put them down, even if its nessesary, especially when you destroy between 20-30 every single day. It gets to you. I learnt that the hard way, I was enthusiastic at first. Go with a vet clinic orsomething, maybe a boarding kennel, that way theres less death.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Man bites dog

Do a vet nurse corse. during my holls i go to the locall vet n he lets me help out with caring for the sick n injured animals, he lets me assist in operations n basicly its a ball of fun n i learn. u may want to do that.
night all
cheers
pete

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Man bites dog

There is one vet around here that I get on well with. I just have never thought of asking if I can do volunteer work with him. Being out of work at the moment its probably the best thing I can do.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Man bites dog

Getting of topic here sorry guys. But I find people stab you in the back first chance they get (none here though, I think you are all great. Might be the valium talking there) but animals don't don't. they know when we are trying to help them. IMO

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Man bites dog

you'll find something Craig

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Man bites dog

hey lib don't worry about these guys. most of the top breeders and vets recomend bitting the dog on the ear if it is unruly. this has worked wonders on my dog that had failed dog school 3 times.

also my uncle who trains dog's for the army use's this if they become unruly when they learn to bite as he says it shows who is in charge.

RE: Re: RE: Man bites dog

being bitten on the ear is something that their mothers do to them when they are young n it keeps them inline.

I have had a bit to do with dog's, and yeah the bitch does snap at a pup to pull it in line, but to bite the pups ear, I must say I haven't seen that. You must get a picture.

RE: Re: RE: Man bites dog

I have never heard of ppl doing, certainly new of animals doing though. There is no way I would do that to my dogs and I wouldn't be surprised if it comes under animal cruelty, whether the bite is bad or not, it is just not right IMO.

RE: Re: RE: Man bites dog

I really think it would be pointless to bite the dog on the ear anyway. If you dont catch the dog "red handed" messing up, then by the time you are punishing the dog, it has forgotten what its done and gets confused. All you are doing is showing the dog you are mean and angry and its not learning anything but to be scared of you.

And yeah, im not a fan of animal abuse either. I once went nuts at a strapper for head butting a stubborn horse that didnt want to get in the starter gates. But thats another story in itself.

your missing the point here it is for dogs that are trying to be the top dog it's not desined for dog's that dig up a lawn or pull clothes off the washing line.
