i have a delema with my snake becuase it has been bitten by a mouse and i think i need help on what to do or the best course of action in this case...

if anyone has any ideas of solutions to this i would be so greatfull!!
ohh it had its shed too!! and its the bigest change in colour i have ever seen!!
cheers

I think that the best thing is to clean the wound with anti-bacterial and keep a close eye on for and swelling or reddening of the wound. But main thing is keep a close eye on wound, if you are concerned that it's not healing or the snake seems distressed or larthagic I guess go to a vet.
Thats my thought though I'm prob wrong. :D :(

He told me it had been bitten behind the head just before the snake gets thicker. From this i think the bite to be along the trachea area before the heart. Ben also told me that it was not deep and there was very minimal blood loss so obviously the the mouse hasent severed any main arterys. Betadine is probably the best at this stage but if bite site looks to be infected or pus laden then i would go to the vet. Other than that i would probably stop feeding live.

My advice would be to not feed it live mice. You are lucky that it didn't do more damage like take out an eye.

Hozy, why were you feeding it live prey in the first place? Theres not a python out there that can't be weaned onto dead prey with a bit of effort and patience.

Hey Hozy,

I think the best advice has been given.

I am posting an image to show you what can, in extreme cases, happen to snakes that are fed live prey. This is sick and should serve as a waring to anyone feeding live prey.
