Has anyone tried F10???

I used lemon juice the only time i had an issue, it worked well for my Amyae eggs, they hatched all okay. It was definately the vermiculite not being sterilised.

Candycaine, set yourself up a new batch of incubation medium, place it in the incubator to attain the required temp, then remove old medium with mould spores in it, clean eggs (maybe give F10 a go) and then place eggs in new medium, be careful not to transfer mould from existing egg box to new one.

Good luck, hope this helps

Um, not a breeder so don't rip my head off, but aren't the eggs permeable? And so putting these chemicals - lemon juice is an acid btw - could be affecting the genetic composition of your reptiles? Has anyone bred an animal successfully from an egg that was treated with a commercial mould remover or even listerine? Eggs are laid mould free so obviously the mould spores are an external problem and really should be taken care of before the eggs are placed in the incubator. I understand how pervasive/invasive mould is, but surely a good cleaning regimen of the incubator/egg boxes is a better way to go than smearing toxic chemicals over unborn reptiles.

Er, I sound like I'm ranting, but I am just trying to understand the 'logic' behind the use of chemicals - would you keepers spray these into your enclosures while the animal was in there?

Toddles off to get into the flame suit...

With regard to F10, do some research and you will see that snakes can be nebulised with it, it is safe.

As far as the other two posts with the mould remover etc, i'm pretty sure they were just having a joke and were not serious.

Well done for looking out for other's and using your own brain too, cheers

good things you say orientalis, you are right there.

i have no idea about using it on snake eggs, but a natural alternative to chemicals is clove oil for killing mould. if anyone has ever seen 'lush house' on lifestyle, she puts a few drops in a spray bottle of water to kill bathroom mould.

ok we;ll today I went to bunnings got a new tub, new vermiculite and set it up the mix is a little bit damp not saturated so if I grab a handfull its compast then crubles, the other stuff was way too wet. I cleaned the eggs before changing them over. They had double the amount of mould when I checked this arvo then Yesterday and I used the lemon juice. I drilled 2 very small holes in eater end to cerculate the air flow.

How often do I need to check on eggs? with these air holes?

Well Done, i think you have increased the chances of the eggs surviving now.

Keep a close eye on the mould situation over the next few days, if you missed some, it will be growing again soon. Mould spores travell very easily in humid environments.

If you have eliminated the mould, 2 times a week should be sufficient In my opinion.

Good luck.

this mould is anoying me so much. its back double time...few eggs in the incubator I think might be dead but I will leave them in there till they go hard and smell bad. the mould's making them a lil slimy.

and its only the eggs in the incubator not the ones with the female.

I was thinking though you know those little containers that you put in rooms to stop mould growing on the roof could it work in an incubator?

and where do I pic up listerine from?

cheers Jody

you can get listerine from any supermarket... if it's the mouth wash that people are talking about?

edit... lol- beat me to it
