Hi,
Somewhere back there, probably when I was trying to sell all my worldly possessions before I moved interstate, I passed my 1000th post. Finally, I am now an expert and can dispense advice to newbies from on high!
Seriously, this is the first forum I've discovered where I've felt at home, and it's been good for me to hang around here. Since I joined APS on 14 January my life has changed completely. I can thank this forum and Zephyr, my little Stimson's python, for that. I brought her home in February, all 18 grams of her, from the VHS Expo. She soon reminded me of how much I love animals and how interesting I find them. I decided to do a BSc in zoology as a result, at James Cook University in Cairns.
I've always been a shy creature - much like a snake as a matter of fact - but just participating on APS was increasing my confidence. I then made an extraordinary discovery about myself, triggered off by a post on this forum, which required a complete reinterpretation of my life to date. That epiphany was a welcome one and bolstered my confidence even further.
In early November I was accepted into my uni course; on 1 December I chucked in a job I hated and moved the 3000 kilometres north to Cairns. Here I have experienced the kindness of APS members in the physical world.
For a long time I haven't been brave enough to say this anywhere, but now I do: in being part of APS, I feel like I belong to a community. Thank you.
And Zephyr is now 150 grams.
