:(shes 2.3mts long and is healthy as but, before i put her away for her nap she had a drama eating a rat (live) it gave her a bit of curry back her batle scares heeled up like new with some creame me local vet he sold me for big $ shes just started to venter out in last cuple weeks shes keen to strke just not a rat live or thawed. any idea's out there just want her to start munchin again . hate it when my mates dont eat... been told baby chickens or ducks ect.

wrong time of year to eat, if your temps are correct for this species: one of my girls hasn't had a feed since march and i wont even bother offering her anything till the end of august...

live feeding is silly, for the very reason you discuss.

Live feeding is undesirable mate, the wounds that can be inflicted on the snake (as you found out) and the welfare concerns to the rat are considerable. Theres also the increased likelihood of parasite transmission so would be a good idea to stick to frozen thawed rats.

As Jack said its probably too cold for her to eat, but snakes can go months without eating and drop barely any weight (if any).

Am I the only one that had difficulty reading the first post?

Pythons will turn away from food that has caused them trauma. You may find that you will have trouble in the future but at the moment like previous posters have pointed out it would not be eating due to the weather and time of the year.
