well tonight my biggest fear of keeping snakes happened.. one bit me!!
im glad it was only a small 3-4 foot one and not a big one..
with snake hanging from my finger i told hubby to 'get it off me'.. i had visions of steve irwins worker with a big python stuck to his face with no intention of letting go, funny how your imagination makes it worse than it actually is LOL well it didnt actually hurt, but i did bleed.. it was just the fact it bit me
i didnt take pics..

It was bound to happen. You will just have to keep a camera on hand next time. We LOVE to see blood on this site... :)

I read Somewhere in the rules of this site that it is a requirement to post pics (the bloodier the better ) of any bite
What Type of snake was it ?

it is a coastal carpet.. i can post pics of the snake but the bite is no worse than accupuncture now :) hubby promised next time (wont be for a while) he will get the camera for pics before he even dares think of coming to aid.

Hehehe Nice

I'm trying to move slowly up to the bigger bites  I had a mental 4 year old Bredli lining me up last weekend - in the end I chickened out  It was going to have me for sure! Bites are a good reality check I reckon

RE: Re: RE: my first bite!

Yeah only one bite for me (7ft carpet python) Didn't actually hurt it was more the frieght of getting bitten.

RE: Re: RE: my first bite!

I have had too many bites to worry about it anymore, I just try and avoid getting bitten now. But doesn't always work.......:D

RE: Re: RE: my first bite!

I have never been bitten since I started keeping reptiles in June 04. I must have immunity. Just ask Afro. His little hatchies bight him and as soon as I hold them, nothing, and then when he holds them again, BAM, he cops it. I know a hatchie isn't really much of a bite, but I am still unscathed. Even my diamond has never bitten me. I do wish it will happen eventually to get it over and done with...

RE: Re: RE: my first bite!

Hehehe, it was only the glass that kept Mustang off ya head Diamond p

ROLMFAO :) :)

Yeah true, but still unscathed :)

I might have to hold your male BHP next time, right before a feed and prove it to you.. Then again, maybe not!!! ;)

RE: Re: RE: my first bite!

Welcome to the club zard...lol...i lost count of how many times my 2 jungles bit me...:)

RE: Re: RE: my first bite!

Oh yeah thought it would be good to hand feed 15 hatchies darwins and diamonds on the w/e (got tagged twice) but all good.

RE: Re: RE: my first bite!

I hand feed all of my snakes, but that is not too bad considering my biggest is only a meter long. I may re-consider this when he grows some more. :)

RE: Re: RE: my first bite!

Congratulations on your first bite, you'll treasure the moment!
We definitely need pics, some of the best are taken just before that last intake of breath when they constrict your neck, but I wouldn't advise it. :)

My pesky little mutt still bites, She's a maniac. She flips around like a looney muppet with her mouth wide hoping to get a bite in. She gets me sometimes but she just leaves pin pricks.
Her sister {same clutch} doesn't bite at all, she's just like my MD in nature. Adorable.

i got bit too

I was feeding my diamond, Anastacia, and she reared up and got my hand. As u said, the fear was the worst and it didnt hurt as much as i thought it would. My hubby did get some good pics tho and I'll post them for all u vampires..........Lol

RE: i got bit too

Was feeding one of my capes last night when it nailed the thawed rat, constricted and rolled out of it's enclosure to the ground still constricting tighter so i picked her and rat up to put back in enclosure but she uncoiled, let go of the rat, nailed me inbetween thumb and forefinger on the fleshy bit and did the death roll....was funny but did hurt a little...just kept constricting and biting harder!!!
