i have a 7 foot jungle and 4 weeks ago i was feeding him, he missed the food and hit the wall of his enclousure, he hurt his lower right side of his jaw he wont close it now, it just hangs there, he didnt eat that quail (refused), but he did eat another one after that happened, i was thinking of feeding him again and seeing if it fixes it up again, i only have a large rat, or should i get something bigger so he has to extend his mouth open wider to see if it corrects itself, or is it possible that he has done more damage and should he go to a vet, can they actually do anything for it.. any help would be appreiciated, im in maitland nsw.

sorry mate i cant really help....but if it was me id be going to the vet just for peace of mind..

this happend to my bredli it fixed itself after a day or two he will most likely fix it himself maybe get a smaller rat feed him that and see what happens dont stress

Sounds like a possible fracture to me - mainly due to the time frame, definitely worth a trip to the vet to determine exactly what it is and how to treat it.
Is there a lot of swelling?

As suggested above, maybe offer another feed and see if he will take it before doing the trip to the vet, but I would probably keep it to a small feed for the time being just incase

there is no swelling at all.. besides being droopy on one side, it looks normal. no discolouration, but its tender to touch. he hisses and pulls his head away when i touch it..

If you struck a wall with your face and your mouth was in the same shape FOUR WEEKS LATER?? Would you leave it, or seek treatment? Common sense.

Yea mate, definitely worth getting it checked out at the vet, I wouldnt be suprised if there is a fracture in his mandible.
