Hey Guys,

He has only a face a mother can love !!!!

But I know crown this beast THOR..... my new Baby Galah

Na not at all.... He has been hand reared since hatching so he is great except for the crap factor...... How come all animals seem to crap on me AGGGGGGGHHHHHH.....

I already have one galah and she is a bit of a cow.... but hopefully now that we have her a partner things will cool down :)

I think I need one of those Kath and Kim aprons ;)

galahs are awsome birds, my uncle has one pushing 40 years

abit of a age difference tho ;)

Keep an eye on them when you first put them together - some parrots can be extremely jealous and quite homicidal to other birds, especially those that are too small or inexperienced to defend themselves.

:p

Thor, the baby is only 3 weeks..... Xander the other galah is nearly 1 year old....

I have had them playing together already today...... they were great together altough at the moment they are in seperate enclosures..... they will play under my watchful eye until he is old enough to defend himself

Hard to tell from that pic... does Xander have red eyes?
I gotta get me some parrots again, hand rearing is so cool.

Congrats Matt, im sure hell be a great pet. Strikes me as funny that baby birds or so ugly till they get there feathers, in terms of survival factor in mammals, most seem rather "cute" as babys. Im thinking the cute factor makes them, in the eyes of the parent animal, more worthy of the effort of care. Whats with birds tho? ugly, loud n demanding, yet birds are some of the hardest working parents in the animal kingdom. Go figure. Maybe im anthropmorphising! :D

lol, still being anthropomorphic aye Hixy? ;)

Well picked Sdaji! Guilty as charged!

HOWEVER:
I don't know how else you would describe it. :? A bird that is used to receiving all the attention sees another bird get all the attention, and then takes it out on the other bird. I think the use of the word jealous is justified. And I considered using 'murderous' instead of 'homicidal', but murder suggests premeditation which is not possible in a creature that doesn't have the capability of abstract thought.

But you already knew that, didn't Sdaj? :D

Mblissett - glad they are getting along OK. Keep an eye on them, but it sounds like they will be fine. Sorry if I worried you for nothing!

How cool, I have a galah (Rosie... how original!!). I am her person so anyone who comes near me betta watch their back!!! I think she is very cool but some would say she has a split personality. Was thinking about gettin a corella to handraise after christmas... where would I start lookin to get one about the same age as yours!!

Saikrett...... He set me back $100..... got him off petlink..... which is sooo much better than $350 which is what I paid for Xander fully reared at a pet shop bout 7 months ago

Already Gone..... I would look on Petlink

I think he is coming along nicely

Can't wait for him to start eating seed though
