I have an near adult Stimpsons that I have owned for about 3 months now. She eats well, is growing great and has a fantastic temperament. :D
What I am wondering is this..
I keep the temp at the cool end bout 25 and the warm end bout 32 and NEVER comes out of her hide (unless i take her out for handling) the other day something broke in the thermostat (think my daughter was helping ) and it got to about 36 in the warm end. she seemed to love it! she came out of her hide, climbed to the top of her enclosure and layed against the cage that surrounds her light?!?! She must have been way to hot right?? But then why would she go to the heat source?!?! VERY VERY CONFUSED!! should i keep it warmer for her? :?:?:?:?:?

good quesion, i have a carpet the does the same thing, never comes out. ive never tried cranking up the temp, but im interested to see what other people think

I can't answer the question about the heat with the Stimmo but if your snake hides a lot it's nothing to be concerned about and is quite normal. This is especially true of younger snakes.

my male stimson is usually out but the female is usually hiding.... they all have their own traits....

typical to be hiding during the day since they are primarily active at night time....

it is a good idea if you can provide a basking light for 2 hours in the morning on a timer, that way if your python feels cold they can come out and warm up if they want to.

hiding stimmie

hi there.my personal opinion is its probably not quite hot enough, for that stimmie l like to see 33-34c and l believe that last 2-3 degrees can make a big difference. why not try it and just watch the snakes body language l am sure you will notice a difference....cheers solar 17 [Baden]
