will .75mm2 cable be ok for 1 100w light and how much curren could it take EG how many watts
it is 250v cable
thanks in advance

If i had my book i could tell you :? The length of the cable would also come into it but i would imagine it would take a fair bit of current before it caught fire.

You devide the wattage by the voltage and you get how many amps the device uses. usually the wire says how many amps the wire can handle.

i did it at tech but can not rember what the deal was but i thought you could work max amp from cable size
its not writen on the drum or the cable

from memory 2.5 cable is good for 20amps so surly .75 will be ok for 2.5 amps

.75mm flexible 240 volt cable is rated @ 7.5 amps @ 240 volts, that = 1800 watts, if switching through your thermostats which are rated @ 5 amps (resistive load) then the maximum load would be 1200 watts. Good idea to allow a safe margin for error and not exceed say 900 watts.

thanks bait just what i thought but needed to here

The .75 cable will pass with flying colours for just 1 bulb

thanks all
