Hi people,
I am happy new owner of a beautiful bredli. I got my licence a year ago and only got one recently.
I got million questions. I am trying to find any info on the web, but it's a bit too confusing for me:)
Can bredli eyes start reflecting the light outside? - today I took him out to play/croll and his eyes looked abit blue/cloudy collour, which is not his normal colour. but than later after he crolled around they look a bit better. And he is only little - he only ate 6 times in his life(every 3 weeks).
Also, he was sitting on my sholder all quite and then when my partner moved abit quickly close to me snaky jumped and tried to bite him, but missed and got my chick instead - lucky he cant bite:) but can he go all defencive?

I think you will find the blue/cloudy colour is a sign he is going to shed very soon. The eyes do go that colour during shed mode when the protective skin (called spectacle) across their eyes starts to loosen, ready to come off. You may notice, too, that his skin looks dark and not so bright. You wait till he has shed, then you'll see the difference.

The defensive behaviour is typical of any baby snake but more so when their eyes are cloudy as the cloudiness does effect their sight. So atm he may feeling more vulnerable than normal because he cannot see exactly what is coming at him.

if the eyes are cloudy he is going into shed, dont handle him. make sure he has got access to water and he will shed in about a week. a young snake should be eating at least once a week. snakes are wild animals and can be pretty unpredictable, there is a thread at the moment thats discussing snakes attitudes to different people.

i suggest you do ALOT of reading on this forum. you should know your facts before owning a snake IMO.

not sure about the eyes, could be getting ready to shed. but i think he needs to be fed more like every week!!

Have you got a copy of, Keeping and Breeding Australian Pythons by Mike Swan. Good book with lots of info. You can get it at the herp shop.

Can I suggest finding your local herp group, best source of information and help possible
