Hi ladies and gentlemen,
I purchased this Male 3 y.o Marm on the weekend, just wanted some opinions on his condition.
I've only W.A marms to compare and they are bigger than the Qld form (that he is).
His enclosure was umm... unkept (which I got with him).
There would have been easily remnants of 4 sheds in there with him.

To me he looks skinny, he weighs 12grams, SVL 9cm.
He has some unshed skin on one front digit that I'm already dealing with.
Is the pink/red on his other digits normal??
Enclosure is clean now, after full decontamination: fresh substrate (play sand) some hides and foliage.
I've been misting the sides of the enclosure for drinks.
Any tips on helping him be the best he can be?

Thanks heaps in advance.

He isn't overweight but looks healthy to me, with most geckos you can tell they are underweight as the hips start to stick out and the leg bones/tendons start to become obvious, your gecko doesn't seem to be showing any of those signs.

Also that small depression running along the spine is a sign that he is a healthy weight, when they are emaciated that depression reduces and eventually replaced by a protruding spine.

The pink on the digits is normal.

Adult males wont feed much so dont be surprised if he only takes one or two feeds a week, even less during winter.
Just keep an eye on the hips and leg bones etc and you will be fine.

Also your husbandry sounds fine.

Best of luck,

Josh

If the gecko doesn't shed all at once and has bits remaining, keep an eye on it. Perhaps the redness of the digits is being caused by old skin still constricting the toes. Be sure to keep an eye on him.

Whilst I wouldn't consider it underweight, the gecko certainly needs to gain some condition. The tail still appears to be reasonably thick. If he readily feeds, you're in luck. Pump him with calcium and keep him hydrated. Be sure to spray most of his enclosure and himself as well, including the feet. Whilst not likely necessary, I use astroturf for Oedura spp., as it may benefit the gecko during shedding by grasping the skin.

I agree with rocket, my ones are all a bit fatter than that one but yours doesn't look unhealthy

Sorry I need to correct what I posted earlier, the red on the toes may not be normal, I was getting confused with my O.castelnaui that have red toes

Thanks for the replies everyone.
He ate 2 crickets last night. but this morning I noticed he regurgitated one.
Crickets are mediums.
