Hey all,
Recently got my new female baby woma from Snake Ranch and she's absolutely gorgeous! Quick question: how have other people found their juvenile woma's temperaments to be? I know baby snakes are snappy but she is crazy! Any movements at all, even well outside of feeding times/days are met by hissing and open mouth striking.
Anyone else had this experience? Would I expect her to quiet down or do you think I've got a firecracker on my hands?

And here's a picture :)

I just got a new female hatchy too, when I first got her out and put her in her enclosure she was pretty crazy, but within a day she was completely tame and hasn't shown any aggression for a couple of weeks. Just keep handling her, even if you get her out with a hook she might be nice after that. That's what mine was like

My son got his Tanami Woma from SR on the 10th Feb. He is an absolute dream, he shed after 4 days of getting him, fed him the following day & started handling a few days after the 1st feed.
If he sees any movement around his cage he comes out for a look & is even starting to come out to us when we open the cage. He is out of his hides nearly every night cruisin' the cage & isn't the slightest bit flighty.
The only time he bite was the first time my son put his hand in the cage, he wanted to do it all slowly & let the snake check him out but the snake thought he must have been tucker cause he just opened his month over the boys finger & hung on for a few seconds then let go. He didn't actually strike.
Have you let your little girl settle in undisturbed?

Gorgeous little girl :)

Just give it a few days, my Bredli I got from SR few years back and they were a little figdity for a few days but settled down quickly

I got my baby woma from Buck about 5 weeks ago and she is extremely placid. the only time she has been aggressive was the day her eyes went blue prior to shedding, she would strike through her enclosure at any movement so I placed a pillow case over her enclosure to avoid extra stress on her. Apart from that she has been a dream. She is very curious as KPALMER's woma is, coming to me when I open the click - clack, out of her hide a lot of the time to check things out. (I wish the same could be said about my Bredli!! Her interim name is Cranky B**ch).
Just ensure you let her settle in properly, I let mine settle just over a week before I handled her. Perhaps place her click clack in a very low traffic area or place a pillow case over it...?

Lovely woma! We got a couple, a WA and SA, from SR a few weeks ago. So far so good, they both seem really calm. One of ours did S up and hiss once, I left him alone for a while, then got him out later using the hook and he was fine. Just let her settle in for a while and she should be fine.

i got both my womas at about 5 months old they have never S'ed up and never hissed or bitten i can just grab them out the enclosure no problem or they even climb onto my hand if i open the door.

Yeah hopefully she's just going to require some more time. I've had her for 3 weeks and for the first 2 had her in a click clack with a pillow case over it except for feeding time. She's never refused a mouse, and had shed perfectly so all seems to be functioning well.
Maybe time to invest in a hook :)
The interim name is Katarina-ie tempestuous shrew :)

What you will find is womas imo are like water pythons.

There either really placid or really not placid.

You can calm them down but some just bite all the time and some are complete angels.

Put some time into yours and it may calm down or it may stay this way

She's gorgeous Tegstep, hopefully she settles down. She'll keep you on your toes if she doesn't :)

I got a male off SR last week... My first handling experience wasn't great, but that was me, not the snake :) He should be fine to handle I think, more afraid than aggressive after I balls'd up!

Update for all: She's growing up into a gorgeous little girl, and when out of the enclosure quite handleable now. Still snappy and enclosure protective, but if you pick her up in a pillowcase she's fine once out :)

She is lovely, my girl doesn't get snappy as much now but if I am holding her and she is hungry like after a shed she will try and crush my hand and will not let go untill the rat comes out.

Very nice. She`s just like Marge, my girl who might even be your girls sister. Marge and Homor, my woma`s, also came from snake ranch and are a pleasure to handle. They are the favourites for my young kids to handle. Ross.
