hello guys i got my new bearded dragon today and when i put him he's stayed pretty much still for all day he hasent moved for any food or water is he just seatling in or is it something else ?? he was all up perky till we got him home ??

Maybe it isn't hot enough for him? What are the temps

thanks the temps were around 50 outside and about end of the 40's in my room so i didnt bother with the heating?

but i have put the night heating on just a couple of minetes ago its about 40 on the hot side and 30 on the cooler

i got two baby beardies at the same time same clutch and one ate like crazy since day one the other wasnt interested until about a week. but try some broght coloured foods they love them

Dont use night heating
If ur getting such high ambient temps then u need to air con the room and provide proper basking site temps and cool end

hes prob just settling in....new environment n all, give him a few days n he should liven up

my tank is three foot but you might want a smaller one for a smaller beardie?

Give him time to settle as the others said, & yes, u need to sort out your temps - it's SO hot here at the moment. Keep the fluids up, even try soaking him if he's not inclined to lick the water. I'm in Tmba too if u need me to pop in tomorrow & run thru your setup etc, just pm me - Kathy:)

i know its quite hard but you gotta relax and enjoy. measure your temps and do whatever you have to do to get them right. my husband(who doesnt know lizards) freaked the other day cause he saw one of my beardies in the water not moving , it was quite funny to me .

thanks we will just see how he is in the morning :)
No dramas:D The offers always there if u need it!
Give him a couple of days, make sure his enclosure isn't in the sun from the windows, have a shallow water bowl in with him if u haven't already, plus the misting, & hopefully he'll be good!
Let us know:)

thanks guys hes ok now :) hes happier hes moved around hes eaten and i think the water helped and hes shedding so would that cause anything?

I find my beardies still do everything normal even when shedding. But if he's still little keep the misting up, they can dehydrate very quickly when they're still young.

If you wanna give him a treat- give him a cool bath- it will hydrate him a bit, cool him down and show him you arent going to eat him..new ones always kinda chill when they arrive mate..but a bath does wonders...maybe I enjoy that bonding part as much as they enjoy the cool off.

Warning.

My guy's loved having a bath when they were younger, and I think that they still do. However Elvis has taken to having a big dump when he first gets wet.

So be prepared.

yeah that happens heaps- not a nice thing to watch- especially so close up:?

Mine did the same thing. within about 3 days he was finally eating and running around his tank. It must be just a settling period.
