And modest, virtuous in every way! Ok, that's a sign that it's late and I need rest. Thanks for your reply's guys (that rhymes). Now go to bed! :)

DDALDD
Just dont touch the heat cord together when its under a click clack or they can melt & catch fire!
If you just want to heat up one click clack then use a 12 watt heat mat under 1/4 of it!
Works perfectly.
But if you are going to heat up a line of click clacks then heat cord is the go, just be very carfull with it.
I have herd of houses burnt down from miss use!
I have used heat cord in the shelfs in my incubator / Juvie room.

I have used my heat cord on numerous table tops and carpets, through newspaper and on glass, and underneath quite a few different click clacks. It has never once melted anything, or indeed, heated anything enough to actually burn.

A hot heat cord has the potential, I'm not denying that. However, my heat cord (with it's length and wattage) is no way near hot enough to melt paper.

i use the 7L sistema click clacks

yes, thermostat is required.

infrared temp gun to check temps are staying stable,...perfect,....!!

i hated heat cord and went off to get a heat mat instead,...how do u get that crap to sit still and not touch?

isnt spreading the disease and anthrax album,..?

Just a Q, is a click clack more suitable than a tank for a hatchie? thinking about getting my first and ive got a spare 2ft fish tank, but would he get lost?
thnkas guys, sorry for tacking on the end of this post, thanks for commetns about heating, theyve been very handy!

click clacks are heaps better (and theyre only like 10 bucks), fish tanks are very hard to make escape proof.

he wouldnt get lost, but having put my first snake straight into a 4 foot tank i found it took him alot longer to settle down, the new ones seem so snug and happy in their click clacks,....

oh, click clacks need holes drilled in them, dont forget to do that if thats the way u decide to go,...

You can have paper on Heat cord just fine.
The problen Im talking about, is when you double back the heat cord onto itself.
it will melt togther thats when you can have a click clack melt or even a fire.

how do u get that crap to sit still and not touch?

The weight of the click clack is usually enough to stop it from moving.

The problen Im talking about, is when you double back the heat cord onto itself.

I can wind my cord back on itself in a ball (like you do with rope), tie it together with a bit of wire, and know that it's impossible for it to get hot enough to melt or catch fire. As I said, the length and wattage of my heat cord is not suitable to cause that much heat.

So, talked to the breeder and they recommended a very low wattage heat mat with no thermostat. Mentioned the heat cord they said it's fine too but they would use heat mats for just one snake. In other words, still deciding! So yay!
