ok my wifes little girl has gone right off her food, i have tried everything quail, mouse, rat, even blooding and braining them to no avail. she is super friendly now, (used to chew your arm off at the thought of food) but these days she is just happy to smooch, this would be great if she had eaten in the last 7weeks, but shes not having a bar of it, i thought she might tonight as she seemed interested but then just turned away, she is active and happy and not thin or looking starved.

any help as to how to get her feeding again. starting to get a little worried

thanks
peter

usually older snakes (yearlings+) go off their food around this time of the year as its winter months and their instincts say stop eating and hibernate... of course they arnt in their natural environment.

check you temp, ambient temp of the room the snake is in and the ambient temp of the enclosure and if all are normal then id try bumping up the temp a degree and see what happens. if she still doesnt eat then i wouldnt worry to much, snakes can go for a year without food

her temps are good if anything slightly warm at 28deg, i did this to keep her feeding during winter to help her grow, i had a feeling she had gone off her food cause of the colder climate, but was still stressing after almost 2months of nothing, (although the side effect of a happy none bity snake is nice). i'll still offer every week tho one day she might bite.

If 28C is the hot end, then that's not that high at all. Might want to up it a couple of degrees and see if it stimulates a hunger response.
She may be being friendly because of the cold as well - happens with my snake too.

some snakes just go off there food this time of year regardles of the enclosure temps.

ok i thought i would give an update as to whatss been happening for weeks and weeks i have been trying to get my childreni to feed with no avail, i tried turning the temp up didnt work, i offered mice and rats and quail, didnt work. in the end i let her go for another 3 weeks offering nothing,

then theother week i bought some really small pinkies, about 3/4inch long and offered by hand, (different supplier too) and she snaffled it, yay. few days ago i offered her the same thing (only 2 of them) and she downed both i have the fang marks to prove it.

so yeh basically i have had to go back to starter food to get her feeding again, shes still happy and not snappy which is heaven as she was a bit short with me normally.

so for anyone one else out there having problems try a different supplier of food and try the smallest thing you can get. might just work.

gl and ty everyone for you help
