It wasn't watery, just had a lot of liquid underneath in the substrate, I will give it a thorough clean today, the poop was warm and big, still quite solid, definate signs of fuzzy chizken and possibly leaf but hard to tell. This is the first day old chick it has eaten so it is hard to tell what is chick and what is possibly silk leaf. I took the Python out and thoroughly examined it for any signs of lumps. It is still as happy as ever and much trimmer and NO LUMPS!!!! Rear end is back in shape....not looking as though it is constipated.
I will still keep an eye on it but I think we are in the clear.

Geez, I sound like I'm doing an autopsy on a poop like those crime investigation shows on tv.

Snake poop investigation featuring Carpet Cleaner......don't think it would rate too well on tv somehow.

Looking back at the first post mrmikk and seeing it was fed the chick a week ago you may be right about that. I would have thought that being silk and plastic it wouldn't break down a great deal, never happened to me so i won't argue that i'm right or wrong. If it did happen to me i'd want to be sure it isn't sitting in the snakes gut still.

I would assume that if beaks and bones and teeth break down to basic snake scatt then a plastic and silk leaf would too. A friend told me about a snake that ate a skin shed and pooped it out ok?!?!

skin shed ia a natural substance unlike fake leaf and plastic .......not saying it will cause any drama's with your snake ,but like anything ,what goes in should come out and in other type of pets, like pooches, the vet says to check poo to make sure the plastic has past and even with kiddies same thing .so thats why i asked had you checked........

I'd have to travel to Perth (around two hours away) with the snake, the fecal sample, and three kids aged one two and 11 all with the flu. I'm kind of keen to avoid that if it is at all possible. Don't get me wrong, it will be a trip straight to Perth if the Python begins to show signs of something wrong, but it is looking good and I have no real cause for concern at the mo.
It is times like this that I wish my local vet was capable of dealing with reptiles.

I see where you ar coming from redbellybite with the natural substance thing. I'll have another check.

Would it be extremely bad manners to post a picture of a scat or might I expect to sit in the naughty spot for that?

No bloody wonder there was alump. It wasn't just a leaf.....it was a couple. Note how they never digested, just passed through. I wiped the leaves and there was very definately fecal matter on them so it hasn't just fallen off the vine and I have missed them up the back of the viv.

Good to see, that sounds wierd when talking about poo, well good news anyway. Saves you a trip to the vet. I would still keep an eye on him over the next few feeds and check the poo is normal just to make sure it hasn't injured the snake internally.

Another good reason why when i see a snake has passed its meal to strip the entire enclosure out and clean it thoroughly.

are those the wires of the vines.?!?!
yup, sure save the hassle of the 2hr journey...its a relieve he got it all out...

She has actually ingested a lot more than I imagined (I thought it was just one leaf) so I will still make sure she's ok and keep a very close eye on her.
What a relief though!
The stems of the vine are just plastic, not wire, but definately better out than in.
I am also changing my substrate back to white so I can see things on it better. Think I'll ask my butcher for a few extra sheets of butchers paper.

get rid of the vine you can get other fake plants with bigger leaves ................and thats good that ya found it too:)

Vine has been removed. It was just a freak thing that would probably never happen again, but just to be sure it doesn't I am leaving the viv bare of cage furnishings except for logs and branches.

I was going through the shots on my camera and I found pics of the Python ACTUALLY eating the day old chick....no big deal I hear you say...BUT.....in the very last shot you can actually see the leaves being ingested with the day old chick....very interesting viewing. I shall post them up tomorrow!!!!!!
