Im new to the herp world only owned this beautiful jungle since last wednesday!

Does her laying in water mean she has mites? it is a fairly warm humid day and its the warmest since ive had her!

i only just had her out and i put her back in and left her for 10 minutes and when i came past she was in the water!

Help please im freaking out

dont stress ! some jungles just love having a bath mine do almost every time they feed or she could just be cooling off :)

how long was she in the water? if she has mites you should see drowned ones in the bottom of the bowl

some snakes just like soaking in their water though :)

She may be getting ready to shed,..when was the last shed do you know? If she has mites I have recently read you will find them at the bottom of the water bowl if so.

You may find it a little easier to clean the enclosure without those pebbles,..I can understand a few in the water bowl to stop it tipping but the others although visually appealing could be a bit of a hassle for you.

A snake sitting in her water bowl is not a cause for concern, really. Perhaps she just felt a little hot. If she continues to stay in her water bowl for long periods of time, I'd check the heat and then worry about mites =)

Certainly check the bowl for mites but some snakes just love a swim.
My BHP has a spa with me on ocassions and loves going for a dip, is always
diving into his water bowl/ swimming pool.

It could be a couple of things.
1- is it coming up to a shed
2- has the weather been really hot
3- it could have mites. Take the snake out of the water and check for little black dots in the bottom of the bowl.

If the temp is to hot adjust the thermostat down a little bit

It's probably just sitting in there to cool down. What are you using as a heat source

if you have a thermometer use that for now to see what the temps are either end of the enclosure, and then you can adjust your heat as necessary until the thermostat arrives.

Depending on the wattage you may need to use a lower wattage globe. Just keep checking the temp until Wednesday and it should be fine

Hmmmm.... sounds you may be a little unprepared for your first snake?

What are the temps in the enclosure? Hot end? Cool end?

just a bit they guy i got her off seemed like he knew what he was doing! he's had her for nearly 2 years!

i didnt know that i needed any of this stuff until i joined this site!

i was too consumed with actually getting the snake to think of doing research to see what i need to take care of her!

shes still in there :(
