Hi so yes I'm really really new to all this, is it usual for the person your buying your snake from, to want you to transfer the money into their account and they will get a courier to deliver it to you, no chance to see it at all, just seemed a bit suss to me

before you send money, get license details, contact details etc
for the most part its a trust game, you send money to cover shipping + animal costs and theyll send the animal out over the next couple days
freight shouldnt cost more than $120 from one state to another.
if the offer seems too good to be true, its most likely a scam

ask for courier details, time frame from them to you
if they refuse to send license, tell them to get F*Kd

I live in the same state, I did offer to meet him somewhere, I get people don't want strangers in their home, but like you said it seemed to good to be true, anyway by not getting her today give me more time to have everything set up for the next opportunity

You should be given their license and contact information and they most definitely should ask for yours before any sale happens. Then yes with reptiles shipping is most common especially if you don't live in same area. Breeders aren't interested in driving and meeting people everywhere for each snake/lizard etc. Then it wouldn't be worth it for them to breed, so the shipping makes their lives simple, stops them having to deal with scammers themselves or people who just want to waste time/offer less money on the day/etc. Yes there is trust involved but know that it is the norm in the reptile world, exchanging of license details, paying for the animal and shipping and then usually received within the week. If you don't feel comfortable with one then look for others/bigger breeders, just be aware that pay before shipping is normal for most unless you're really close.

most decent breeders will give a rough location as they don't want people coming around to the house. And then work out delivery or meeting place. Since this guy wont tell you anything it's a good chance he's a shonk. Ignore him

That is how it works BUT If its in the same state & you have no problem travelling to them, i dont see why you shouldn't be able to view the animal first. My X-X-X used to scam people like this so i trust nobody now. I would suggest you keep looking but thats just my opinion & untrusting nature.

There's no shortage of snakes and legit breeders out there, if your close enough to meet them and they decline then maybe find another one
