I have so many different sized lenses - Using my 67mm for the filters as I use my 14-54mm lens the most... I have a bunch of 58mm sized ends as well - but, I don't use them nearly as much.

They're on the way... I think they're all able to screw into each other - I got ND2, 4 and 8 so I have a few ranges there... Will take some practice when they turn up - on holiday now for 2 weeks, so will get some interesting shots...

Thanks for the inspiration :)

Show us your pics when you get them :) I don't use mine for lightning really because we don't have that much, but they are great for the beach, and even in the city.

It's going to be the same for me... No lightning here - need to go to the west coast for that! Beach... Town... Bridge (we have a beautiful 6 arch bridge here)... They'll be my main contenders :)

Had a doozey of an electrical storm here in the small hours of this morning , came with very heavy rain.

I happened to get up to unplug the laptop and the desktop from the mains - I've lost one of each of these before to powersurges and I stayed up for little while with the lights off and watched the electrical display, was amazing and there were several ground strikes nearby that I could see from my back patio.

No photos - maybe next time, and then I might take the opportunity to set up on Lookout Hill or somewhere else with an elevated vantage point.

I took these tonight with my olympus point and shoot ( set on fireworks setting )

I am still learning how to use my DLSR and am not sure of what settings I need to use for this sort of photography....
I have a Canon EOS 600D....
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

They're good... Olympus point and shoot cameras are pretty awesome!

To do this on your cannon you can either use the bulb setting or just manual exposure time (ie open the shutter for much longer).

I just purchased an awesome ND Filter - will have to go and take some photos with it now!!!

I got a great ND filter - but no lightning here, so the best I can do is rivers, streams and the ocean... Also got a 'IR filter' - but it's not real IR - but it did make an interesting shot:

ND Filter:

I'd love to get lightning using the IR filter... But alas - the complete lack of lightning in this part of NZ is certainly going to make it increasingly difficult to get that shot :)

Loving all the lightening shots!! Hope I get that lucky one day
