Gidday all. Was just wondering where to place the thermostat probe for a basking area?
I was thinking if i placed probe on the actual basking branch and the python lays over it then it would give a wrong reading and thus overheating the area? And if I place it on side wall not directly under ceramic then reading wouldnt be correct either?
Its a fairly large glass enclosure for a Bredli and in the process of setting up and want to make sure i get it right.
Any help appreciated.

you need to get it roughly where the snake will sit. Do you have it in a cage or is your basking lamp sitting ontop of your enclosure? I would suggest getting the thermo probe about 5 -8 inches from the emitter. Then let the snake decide where he wants to be.

iv got mine at the level the snake baskes at most. iv got 3 4f wide 2.5f high and 2f deep and mi probes sitt about 1/4 up the back wall in the same line as the lights so that particular area will heat to what it needs to and surrounding areas will be that bit cooler so the snake can choose.
